Job Function:Providetechnical support to the Veterinary
Technology (VT) program, instructors,students, and administrators.
Provide instructional assistance and support forVT laboratory
sessions. Serve asclinical coordinator for VT preceptorship course
and clinical laboratorycourses.Essential Job Functions: -1. 1. -Act
as Compliance Officer pursuant to the terms and guidance detailed
in the IACUC-approved Post-Approval Compliance Monitoring Plan.a.
Works under the guidance of the Institutional Officer (IO) and
IACUC to serve as the "eyes and ears" of the IO/IACUC, without
voting privileges, but with obligations to advocate on behalf of
OSU-OKC when interacting with instructors and students. The
Compliance Officer (CO) assesses compliant performance both by
observation of animal care and use and by document review.b. Works
with the faculty, students and staff to observe animal use
activity, to prepare accurate reports of observations made, and to
provide guidance for returning to and/or maintaining compliant
activity.c. Communicates decisions of the IO/IACUC to the
instructor and ensures that issues identified during post-approval
monitoring (PAM) activities have been resolved.d. Maintain and
share IACUC-approved hardcopy or electronic Animal Care and Use
Protocols (ACUPs). e. Updates IACUC training as necessary.2. 2.
-Serve as primary coordinator/liaison to purchase, maintain,
negotiate and/or recommend the procurement of medical equipment,
supplies, and inventory for the vet tech department.3. 3. -Assist
in preparation and evaluation of medical records.4. 4. -Assist
instructors and students in Veterinary Technology classes.5. 5.
-Assist with laboratory instructional activities including the
set-up, administration and evaluation of laboratory practical
exams.6. 6. Lead VT laboratory sessions and didactic lectures as a
portion of the course content in areas of specific and exceptional
experience or expertise.7. 7. -Assist in maintaining and updating
the AVMA-mandated Essential Skills list for each student. 8. 8.
-Assist in evaluating student presentations, examinations, and
other work.9. 9. -Assist in maintaining controlled drugs,
anesthesia, surgery, radiation, and laboratory equipment logs.10.
10. -Work with ionizing radiation, i.e. x-rays.11. Maintain
laboratory equipment laboratory supplies Material Safety and Data
Sheets (MSDS)/Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Assist the Clinical
Coordinator in the acquisition of animals for use in laboratory
exercises and clinical labs. Obtain current veterinary health
records and maintain oversight of record-keeping process. 11. 12.
-Assist with development of new partnerships and maintain
relationships and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with partner
organizations and institutions12. 13. -Completes all mandatory
training and maintains good standing with the OSBVME.13. 14.
-Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters related to
sensitive material14. 15. -Function as a team member in the
coordination of the Veterinary Technology program.15. 16. -Serve as
a role model to Veterinary Technology students.16. 17. -Assist with
maintaining the departmental library with current textbooks.17. 18.
-Assist with student recruitment, admissions, and advisement
activities.18. 19. -May be asked to serve as a co-advisor to the
Veterinary Technician Student Association.19. 20. -Assist with
visitors, prospective students, facility tours, and handling of
telephone calls.20. 21. -Assist in supervising part-time veterinary
technicians, work study students, temporary personnel and volunteer
workers.21. 22. -Assist with preparation/composition of documents,
reports, bulletins and communications for the department and for
classes.22. 23. -Completes all mandatory training and participates
in a minimum of two professional development each year.23. 24.
