Job Description:

The Classification and Compensation Analyst provides position design consultation, position classification, FLSA designation, and compensation analyses. This position serves as a subject matter expert and conducts all responsibilities with the highest degree of professionalism and confidentiality. This position may be eligible for hybrid/remote work arrangement following the completion of 30 calendar days of employment. Duties: Performs position audits and reclassifications, creates or revises job descriptions, participates in salary surveys and analyzes survey data, and assists with developing or revising salary structures. Develops job descriptions using a Position Description Questionnaire (PDQ), job audit information, and/or various research findings. Revises existing job descriptions as deemed necessary. Performs various special projects to include but not limited to restructuring job classifications, testing HR software, salary equity reviews, and preparing State and Federal salary reports. Analyzes new positions and reclassification requests to appropriately determine job classification and FLSA exemption status. Assists departments with the process and makes recommendations. Verifies if the incumbent or applicant is eligible for the position. Conducts job audits and recommends personnel actions. Interfaces with departmental representatives on matters related to classifications, wages and salaries, and qualifications required of an employee or applicant for a position. Discusses with department(s) possible solutions or options. Maintains various personnel databases. Conducts and participates in compensation surveys or special compensation studies for external benchmarking. Analyzes data and prepares statistical reports related to job review activities, salary equity issues, and trend analysis. Assists in the development of exempt and non-exempt pay plans. May work with outside consultants. Addresses any management concerns and recommends solutions. Classifies jobs into EEO-6 and IPEDS categories using own knowledge, job descriptions, job audit information, and various research findings. Determines the appropriate classification of workers as an employee or independent contractor. Maintains records necessary for appropriate documentation of wage and salary programs, requisitions, and reclassifications. Maintains PeopleSoft Foundation Tables including, new titles, job codes, salary plans and position description updates. Conducts information searches pertaining to salaries, job classifications, and other requests. Interprets University policies and procedures, Federal and State laws and advises on compliance regarding a variety of compensation issues. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
