Job Description:
Big Picture: a Fleet Manager is responsible for communication
with and management of trucks and company and contracted drivers
assigned to his/her board. Duties and responsibilities are aligned
with balanced goals of Safety, Production, Retention, and Customer
Service.This shift will be as follows: Friday 8a-6p, Saturday &
Sunday 6a-6p, Monday 6a-4pEssential Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate driver/load information in system e.g. ETA's,
PTA's, RDO's, Time Off Requests, etc.
- Check-call EVERY truck multiple times per day to determine
compliance with balanced goals of Safety, Production, Retention,
and Customer Service.
- Develop positive rapport and relationships with drivers through
effective communication, interact positively and professionally
with drivers in your presence, over messaging, and over the
phone.
- Offering assistance to drivers in time management, to
continually improve daily and weekly mileage and service
performance
- Act as driver liaison when interacting with Load Planners and
Customer Service Representatives
- Communicate and work as a team player with all departments e.g.
Safety, Recruiting, Retention, etc., and outside vendors, including
maintenance/shop, etc.
- Provide prompt notification to Load Planners and Customer
Service Representatives as issues arise, maintain communication and
be responsible for follow up on task through completion.
- Communicate maintenance needs to appropriate/assigned
maintenance entity in a timely manner with diligent follow-up to
driver, operations and maintenance vendor.
- Identify and resolve swaps needed on truck movement board.
- Assist other driver managers with swaps, driver support and
customer service as needed
- Cooperatively assist other Fleet Managers in times of absence
or high volume interactions.
- Maintain compliance with applicable company policies and
procedures
- Work closely with Safety and participate in counseling of
employee and contracted drivers as needed Education and/or Work
Experience Requirements:
- Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including
ability to effectively communicate with internal and external
customers, colleagues and managers.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent critical thinking and decision
making skills, and to seek and provide creative problem solving,
and conflict resolution options.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while
maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer
service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to
completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed
routines, and company policies.

- 1-2 years of dispatch / driver management experience
preferred
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and
Outlook)Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone,
and in person, sometimes in high energy/highly charged emotional
situations and under important time sensitive deadlines.
