This is a fully remote position.
*Leads and manages underwriting team. Responsible for profitability
of the group product block of business, serves as a resource to
others in the resolution of complex problems and issues, negotiates
and approves exceptions requests and orchestrate the decision
making process between team members, sales, broker resources,
actuaries and peer review committee. Responsible for the
evaluation, risk selection and calculation of premium levels and
plan designs that ensure Company profitability goals for the
acquisition of profitable new cases and the profitable retention of
in force cases. Responsible for ensuring all proposal and
contractual documentation are accurate and compliant with state and
federal manadated changes, in addition to Company required changes.
Responds to requests for proposals for group products by pricing
benefits and designing plans that meet the needs of the Customer
and support Company initiatives to gain new Customers and retain
current Customers. Assists in the development of new group
products, services and strategies to improve or refine
profitability, selection and retention of group products within
employer groups and/or associations in approved industries and
markets which result in profitable, controlled growth.
*Analyzes and interprets the performance of group products at the
block, broker, large/unique/complex or group level through the use
of BI tools and software, actuarial reports and other underwriting
tools to ensure divisional targets for ROE and unit value are met,
and if not, manages and leads department in execution and
implementation of business plans, recommendations for group product
renewals along with other value added initiatives designed to
support Company initiatives and "Sales and Broker Resource" needs
to drive profitable and controlled business growth. Participates
and assists in executive management meetings to determine business
plan for product and pricing changes. Has an advanced understanding
of the underwriting mechanics and pricing for all types of group
product risks. Consults with and responds to internal and external
Customer questions regarding existing and prospective accounts to
promote understanding of the--underwriting analysis performed in
order to obtain and retain customer satisfaction.
Represents--department in LEAN projects, policy administration
system meetings, special projects and work collaboratively with
management and organizational leadership.
*Demonstrates technical expertise in risk selection. Leads and
manages underwriting team in the quoting and renewal of large,
unique or complex cases and exception issues, demonstrates advanced
understanding of the underwriting principals, mechanics and pricing
for all group product, demonstrates advanced understanding and a
high level of proficiency with business analytics and business
intelligence tools use and/or needs and provide technical support,
coaching, mentoring and/or training to Group Underwriter IV, Group
Underwriter III, Group Underwriter II, Group Underwriter 1 and
other Home Office Colleagues. Responsible for managing the
coordination, implementation, documentation and approval of test
scenarios associated with new products or changes within an
existing product.--
*Compensation range: $83,810.37/yr to $124,547.91/yr, plus may be
eligible for an annual discretionary company bonus.--Actual
compensation within that range will be dependent upon the
geographic location of the individual, the individual's skills,
