  Full-Time, Days Monday-Friday.
  Responsibilities
  Responsible for entering data from the hospital, office and satellite offices. Work with coders on any changes regarding coding changes. Verify and audit fee tickets from the hospitals. Check for correctness and completeness prior to tickets being processed for billing, insurance filing and receipt posting. Maintain updated procedure and diagnosis codes in computer files.
  • Input demographics for all new patients ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Obtain patient information from physicians and or nurse regarding services for hospitalized patients and update demographics as received on patient accounts, with emphasis on the patient insurance corresponding with patient type.
  • Verify that a patient has an established patient chart, the place of service, and the patient's insurance type.
  • Responsible for ensuring the diagnoses and procedural codes and all pertinent information on all hospital charge tickets are correct. Ensure that operative reports are attached to billings as applicable. Post charges into the system daily.
  • After charges are entered, add charge batch and file.
  • Assist physicians in placing the correct diagnosis and procedure code on charge tickets for unusual procedures.
  • Responsible for being up-to-date and knowledgeable on coding ethics and diagnostic procedures, as well as remaining current about federal legislative changes that affect outcomes.
    Qualifications
    Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
    Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of charge entry in a medical setting with knowledge of ICD9 and CPT4
    Working Knowledge: Windows based operating systems preferred. Professional verbal and written communication skills. Medical terminology and medical insurance knowledge preferred. Proficiency in CPT and ICD-9 coding. Knowledge of coding policies and procedures and reimbursement practices. Confidentiality of patient and financial information. Must be able to assess self-learning skills and participate in educational programs, as appropriate.
    Essential Technical/Motor Skills: CRT, typewriter and 10 keys required. 40 WPM minimum
