JOB DESCRIPTION: EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - BUILDING & GROUNDS;
APPRENTICESALARY SCHEDULE: SCHEDULE WIIIDEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPTSAFETY-SENSITIVE: YESPOSITION SUMMARY:The
employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number
of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion
of tasks as assigned.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Ability to perform
each essential duty satisfactorilyHigh School Diploma or general
education degree (GED)Must clear all necessary criminal and
vehicular background checksMust possess and maintain current
Oklahoma license for motor vehiclesMust maintain confidential
information of a sensitive natureMust be available for unscheduled,
emergency callShall provide a reasonable method of communication
during unscheduled, emergency situationsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: Must exhibit proper work practices in maintaining
a safe work area to insure the well-being of not only the employee
but fellow workers, students, facility and the general public as
well. Applicant may be required to perform duties in extreme
adverse outside weather conditions for extended periods of times.
On occasion must work above ground level on scaffolding, cat walks,
ladders electric/hydraulic lift type trucks at heights not to
exceed 65'. Must be able to perform duties in all types of grass,
weed, tree pollens, dirt and dust with no adverse reactions. Will
be required to become proficient in the safe handling, mixing and
application of herbicides and pesticides with no adverse reactions.
Will be required to service, repair and maintain areas in and
around sewage lagoons and sewage lift stations. Must perform as
part of an overall maintenance team working for the timely
completion of all assigned tasks, and at times working in different
departments. Regularly must work in confined spaces above, below,
and at ground level. Shall become proficient in the safe,
effective, efficient operation and use of a number of different
pieces of equipment to include but not be limited to
diesel/gasoline powered tractors and implements, sand blasters,
ditch witch, sports field markers, back hoe, front end loader, and
bucket/pole digger trucks. Additional duties that may be assigned
by immediate supervisor or above.LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short
correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write
grammatically correct correspondence and memos.REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of
concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization
exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.PHYSICAL
DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception, and the ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT: The
work environment characteristics described here are representative

regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee
frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather
conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical

level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to
extremely loud.To ensure continuity of services, a different work
location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or
disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or
office buildings. An employee's eligibility for a varied work
location will be determined by the superintendent of schools.
Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by
the employee's supervisor, based on his/her role and
