The Lifeguard (On-Call) supports the FAA Instructors by monitoring subjects participating in water research activities or water survival training activities.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including: commitment to integrity, knowledge / quality of work, supporting financial goals of the company, initiative / motivation, cooperation / relationships, problem analysis / discretion, accomplishing goals through organization, positive oral / written communication skills, leadership abilities, commitment to Affirmative Action, reliability / dependability, flexibility and ownership / accountability of actions taken.

Monitors subjects participating in water research activities or water survival training activities.

Monitors activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers.

Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas.

Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillator (CPR/AED) procedures.

Provides emergency care and treatment until the arrival of medical services.

Maintains constant surveillance of swimmers in the facility.

Acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of swimmers.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance with all applicable rules (federal, state, local, Federal Acquisition Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations, Prime Contract requirements, etc.) for themselves and the company as a whole. Fosters an environment in which they will report any violations or reasonably suspected violation of CNI policy, FAR, and/or CFR and are comfortable discussing the myriad compliance, conflict, FAR, CFR, etc. issues that arise during the performance of a government contract.


High School Diploma and a minimum of three (3) years of experience with the ability to recognize and prevent injuries, perform water rescue, first aid, and professional rescuer CPR/AED. The Lifeguard must be in good health and a minimum of 21 years old.


Current valid Red Cross or equivalent certification is required on: Lifeguard, AED, CPR and First Aid.


Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.

Ability to see details at a distance.

General knowledge of public safety role of a Lifeguard and tools used for emergencies.

Ability to speak to others to convey information effectively.


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.


Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.


Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

May involve frequent bending, moving, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds. Some positions may involve moving, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 100 pounds. May involve standing up to eight hours each day. Required to speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Regularly required to sit and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand; walk and climb or balance. Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high and may and require wearing hearing protection.
