Job Description:
My client's mission is to radically advance humankind's ability
to design living systems. They're developing a mammalian
platform--from cells to software--to enable biotechnologies with
outsized impact, with an initial focus on gene therapies, cell
therapies, and protein therapeutics.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record performing AAV
and/or lentiviral vector stable producer cell line development in
an industry setting. They will be a technical leader on our team,
participating in the creation of stable producer cell lines for AAV
and/or lentiviral vectors, designing complex experimental
approaches to improve our workflows and systems, coordinating
project efforts, and mentoring aspiring scientists. They will also
work closely with the synthetic biology and process development
teams. This is a unique opportunity to work at a nimble,
forward-thinking synthetic biology start-up and help build the
future of biological engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform AAV and/or lentiviral vector stable producer cell line
development processes including transfection, cloning,
characterization, and cell banking using state-of-the-art
equipment
- Drive innovation through the development of novel workflows and
applications
- Support research projects to develop viral vector therapeutics
with enhanced quality attributes such as empty/full ratio, potency,
and/or cell targeting
- Identify emerging practices for viral vector producer cell line
development manufacturing to shape scientific strategies
- Work effectively as part of a cross-functional team in support of
a synthetic biology design platform
- Design experiments, analyze data, troubleshoot, and maintain
detailed records
- Represent the cell line development function on project teams,
making decisions for cell line activities and effectively
communicating results, progress and plans
- Experience in developing and optimizing scalable viral or
vector-based vaccine processes including knowledge of upstream
process development scale-up/scale-down, bioreactor set-up,
operation and control strategies and aseptic bioprocessing.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Biological Engineering, Virology, Cell Biology,
Molecular Biology, or a related field
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in AAV and/or lentiviral vector
producer cell line development including transfection, cloning,
characterization, and cell banking required
- Knowledge in viral vector design, analytical characterization,
and process development required
- Experience performing viral transductions, flow cytometry, and
quantitative gene expression analyses (ddPCR or qPCR) required
- Experience with viral genome engineering, and/or host cell genome
engineering related to virus production or producer cell line
technologies is highly desired
- Ability to work with global customer base supporting viral vector
cell line development with molecules ranging with a high degree of
complexity required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
My client is fuelled by a vision to transform biological
engineering into a fully-fledged engineering discipline. Should you
join their team, you will grow with a constantly evolving
organization and push the frontiers of synthetic biology. Company
culture is key, their culture of recombination; they believe that
their mission can only be achieved by bringing together a diverse
team with a mixture of backgrounds and perspectives.
