First line of contact for people entering government facility. Responsible for monitoring entries and exits, identifying persons exhibiting suspicious behaviors, and working with building security team to prevent safety risks.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone.Duties/ResponsibilitiesProvide a professional, uniformed, armed and unarmed preventive presence to help maintain the orderly conduct of business. The security officer(s) on duty must at all time, without exception, be courteous, exercise tact and diplomacy in their daily contact with the public and staff.The assigned security officer(s) shall wear a vendor supplied uniform with a photo identification card prominently displayed at all times on a breast pocket.Provide safety and security for the employees, customers and visitors.Assist State employees, as requested, in performing temperature checks and health screenings for customers and employees.Prevent, detect and appropriately control incidents of criminal activity and/or threats to State tervene and control incidents in accordance with local, State and Federal laws and industry standards.Respond to emergencies and requests for assistance.Provide continuous security services during the agreed-to schedule at the specified location. Remain at the site location pending the departure of the last customer. This may include patrolling the area hallways and checking bathrooms to ensure that all visitors have departed from the building.Any searches, detentions or arrests of visitors or employees shall be conducted at the discretion of the vendor in accordance with statutory and constitutional restrictions. Such incidents shall be documented by the vendor for the State and reported on incident report forms provided by thevendor.QualificationsRequired Skills/AbilitiesExcellent observational skills and attention to detail.Authoritative verbal communication skills.Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings.Must have one (1) to two (2) years of documented experience in the security industry.Must submit license number or copy of security guard license with application.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Current or Previous CLEET Law Enforcement Officer certification requiredPrevious experience as a Law Enforcement Officer required. Off duty law enforcement candidates preferred, but not requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to patrol the property and access areas quickly.Physically able to capture and detain individuals if necessary.Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and monitoring surveillance equipment.Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
