Job Description:

The Development Director serves as a key leadership team member responsible for fostering new and existing relationships to build visibility, impact, and financial resources for the Oklahoma City Innovation District. This position will be responsible for fundraising and development activities that support the organization’s mission and goals. Additionally, this position will be tasked with creating, designing and executing robust programming and events that support the OKCID Partnership Program and general OKCID fundraising efforts along with the support of the OKCID team.

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute annual fundraising plans through various business development techniques including prospecting, targeted follow-up, and new lead generation

Support and partner with the President/CEO on all major fundraising initiatives

Secure financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other non-profit organizations

Convert new partners into committed partners through identification of shared goals and values

Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors

Develop tracking and reporting mechanisms for all fundraising efforts

Research funding sources and trends with foresight to help position the organization ahead of major funding changes or trends

Maintain and track donor information

Expand program offerings and enhance the quality of existing programs

Plan and develop strategy for programs and events to support fundraising and partnership, and work with OKCID Program Manager and other OKCID team members to implement and execute

Convene stakeholders needed for program delivery

Coordinate with the marketing and communications team to increase awareness of programs

Develop anticipated program costs and budgets

Use the OKCID CRM to grow and manage the OKCID network

Ensure that program milestones and goals are met, while adhering to approved budgets

Gather feedback and present insights related to fundraising, partnership and related programming

Report on program performance to executive team and director

Provide timely and accurate projections to the leadership team

Deliver organized, structured, and persuasive presentations, using effective written and verbal communication.

Perform other duties or special projects as needed.

Drive: Motivated to meet and exceed partnership goals and quotas. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with partners to meet business objectives. Demonstrate the ability to close the sale.

Initiative: Learn new skills, seek increased responsibilities, and ask for and offer help when needed. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and harmoniously with a variety of personalities and leadership styles.

Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team setting. Clearly and persuasively communicate, including public speaking; listen and seek clarifications; participate in meetings; write clearly and informatively.

Creativity: The ability to generate ideas for programming and events and other methods for supporting the Partnership Program and OKCID fundraising efforts.

Strategic leadership skills: The ability to lead on strategy for the organization as it relates to the Development Director position and the overall mission of the OKCID.

Integrity: Work well in a rapidly changing environment; treat others with respect and consideration; accept responsibility for own actions. Understand business implications of decisions, align work with strategic goals, complete administrative tasks and develop strategies to achieve organizational goals.

Flexibility: Able to multitask in a changing work environment. Handle competing demands and unexpected events. Willingness to change approach to best fit the situation.

Dependability: Follows instructions, takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (Business or Non-Profit Management preferred); Master’s degree preferred

Five (5) plus years’ experience in sales, corporate development, or fundraising

Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivating existing donor relationships over time

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members

Ability to exercise good judgement

Ability to manage political, community, and partner relationships appropriately and professionally

Ability to work independently

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks at once

Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders to achieve a common goal

Demonstrated skills in problem-solving and strategic analysis and planning

Self-direction and autonomy working in an unstructured environment

Demonstrated experience in inclusive collaboration with organizations and individuals

Excellent proven written and spoken communication skills

Ability to travel throughout District’s territory as necessary. Use of personal vehicle in the course of employment to travel throughout the district. Significant local travel is required for this position, including visiting local business, health care facilities, and events in public places. A valid driver’s license and insurance is required

Ability and willingness to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends to attend meetings beyond the framework of the normal working schedule
