    Primary Function of Position: Under administrative direction of the Director of Information Technology Services, the Assistant Director for ITS ensures the streamlined operation of the ITS team. Assistant Director provides direction for daily operational activities of the ITS Department, manages the district's information technology projects, and acts as liaison between clients, vendors, and consultants.

    Essential Job Functions:
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the daily operational activities of the ITS Department.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and guidance for ITS activities to achieve the district's technology goals.--
  • Assists the Director of ITS in formulating and implementing policies, programs, procedures, and standards for activities of the ITS Department.
  • Works with Director of ITS to maintain a balanced service portfolio that is aligned with customer expectations.
  • Serves as program manager for the information technology portfolio by planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring projects to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately, and technology resources are used responsibly.
  • Oversees the research, planning, implementation, and maintenance of multiple ITS managed systems throughout the district.
  • Meets regularly with district departmental leadership members to assess the level of customer service satisfaction, analyze needs, and implement remedies as necessary.
  • Supervises ITS department staff by guiding performance, recommending applicable disciplinary actions, recommending training opportunities, and managing leave approval.
  • Manages, plans, organizes, schedules, prioritizes, assigns, and reviews the work of ITS staff.
  • Conducts new hire application evaluations, interviews, and recommends selection for staffing those possessing the technical skills needed to operate and support a wide range of IT resources.
  • Monitors departmental workload statistics for adherence to service level agreement goals and timely, accurate resolution of work orders/requests.
  • Coordinates with technical staff to ensure that district systems are operational.
  • Evaluates technology, future acquisitions, and upgrades to hardware and software, and reviews appropriateness of their use in district ITS projects.
  • Continually updates knowledge and skills to keep abreast of new product developments and technologies.
  • Ability to be present on the job as described under work conditions and contract details.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Master's degree in Business Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience, experience working with vendors and contractors on projects, and current hands-on work experience with multiple server systems in a medium to large network required. OR, Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of supervisory experience, experience working with vendors and contractors on projects, and current hands-on work experience with multiple server systems in a medium to large network required.
    • Must have knowledge and experience of networking and security principles necessary to configure and maintain network infrastructure for an institution of higher learning.
    • Experience in both the Windows and Mac platforms required.
    • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information required.
    • Must be adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
    • Must be detail oriented, highly self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to prioritize work load effectively while working in a time critical, high-pressure environment required.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, managers, and customers within a team-oriented, collaborative environment required.
    • Project Management Professional or other project management certification preferred.
    • Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate with administrator certification (principal or superintendent) preferred.
    • Functional knowledge of the Oklahoma Career Tech system preferred.
      Working Conditions:
      May require periodic travel between Francis Tuttle campuses and out of town with occasional overnight stays. Primary work environment is an office environment that requires sitting for extended periods of time operating a computer keyboard and mouse. Reliable, dependable and punctual attendance. This is not an exhaustive list and reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.

      Organizational Relationship:
      Full-time, exempt personnel position reports directly to the Director of Information Technology Services.

      Length of Contract:
      Twelve-month contract subject to annual renewal. Working day and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Availability to work outside of normal operating hours to respond to technical emergencies as needed.
