EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (includes licenses and certifications)
Required: Unrestricted license to practice as Physician Assistant
or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) within the state of
employment NCCPA Certification required for Physician Assistant.
Two (2) plus years’ experience in a behavioral health, mental
health, or psychiatric facility Basic Life Support (BLS)
certification. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration. National
Practitioner Data Bank registration. Valid and unrestricted
driver’s license. Preferred: Work experience with healthcare
accreditation with preference within the substance abuse treatment
industry. Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN) within one
year of employment for APRN Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
JOB SUMMARY: Provider will provide medical services to primarily
Valley Hope Residential and secondarily Valley Hope Outpatient
program as needed. Services include history, physical, follow-up,
psychological evaluations, and medical management that may require
Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) options.). The provider must be
available via phone (on call) daily, when not present physically at
the Residential and/or Outpatient Valley Hope facilities. The
Provider will meet with facility leadership and/or Medical
Director/Chief Medical Officer at a minimum of every two months to
offer suggestions, share concerns, and note progress. Ensures
proper and adequate treatment is provided during emergencies by
nursing staff and that established policies and procedures for all
medical emergencies are consistently followed (i.e., seizures,
suicidal thoughts/attempts, overdoses, code blue, Delirium Tremens,
etc.). Participates in facility performance improvement activities
and leads efforts specific to medical/nursing services and
improving nursing care quality. Collaborates with facility
management staff to identify and implement improvement activities
across the facility. Assists Director of Nursing with the security,
control, and administration of drugs, medications, treatments, and
tests as allowed by law. Maintains appropriate standards of patient
confidentiality; ensures nursing staff adheres to all policies and
procedures regarding patient information protection and HIPAA/42
CFR. Oversees and assists with medical/nursing tasks and activities
required to maintain compliance with Joint Commission as well as
any other regulatory bodies. Assists the efforts to build the
skills and competencies of the nursing staff as needed to meet
minimum requirements as specified by customary standards of nursing
practice, external accrediting agency guidelines, and internal
organizational guidelines. Ensures effective communications between
the medical department and all of facility departments including
nursing, clinical, and support-service department. Provides
education to patients and/or families about preventive care,
medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or
medications pertinent to the patient’s condition. Develops
treatment plans; participates in case conferences and consults with
physicians, clinicians, other professional staff, clients, and
families and coordinates with other service providers in
developing, monitoring, and adjusting a comprehensive,
individualized treatment plan. Assists the facility Safety Officer
with the coordination, development, implementation, and monitoring
of plans for safety management activities; this includes security
management, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency
preparedness, life safety management, medical equipment management,
utility systems management, space allocation management, and
infection control programs. Maintains and demonstrates a current
working knowledge of nursing procedures and substance abuse
treatments in accordance with company policy and State and Federal
guidelines. Maintains and coordinates with facility team the use of
MAT Therapy and follow up care post treatment. Maintains a current
working knowledge of trends within substance abuse treatment
industry and with State and Federal regulatory requirements and
guidelines. Provider agrees to carry appropriate liability
insurance and will provide evidence of this coverage in the form of
a copy of the certificate of insurance at the time this Agreement
is executed. The Provider will provide to VHA a copy of the
certificate of insurance at any time the Provider's insurance
coverage(s) change(s) or renews. The provider will carry a minimum
of $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate in personal
malpractice liability insurance. Valley Hope will assist with the
cost of this insurance. Adheres to Valley Hope’s philosophies,
policies, and procedures as well as any other regulating bodies.
Participates in all assigned staff meetings, staff development, and
training as required. Interacts and communicates with others
(patients, co-workers, management, clients, and vendors) in a
professional and tactful manner including treating them with
respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.

situations Proficient in MS Office applications, which include
Outlook, Word, and Excel. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Residential/outpatient
treatment facility setting; requires walking throughout the
facility. Direct contact with patients. Able to work at a rapid
pace for long periods of time. Able to push, pull, pull up, bend at
the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms
overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp other items
with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times
throughout the workday. Able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
and able to assist an adult weighing 100-250 pounds. Ability to
