Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 03/02/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post Surgical Med/Surg unit, requiring travel and Level 1 acute care surgical experience. Responsibilities - Work in a hospital-based post-surgical Med/Surg unit - Care for patients in the post-operative phase, including some Stepdown/PCU level cases - Patient ratios are typically 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for Stepdown area - Night shifts with three 12-hour shifts per week - Patients may have new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT or DHT - ENT and/or transplant cases are common and experience is preferred - Responsibilities include providing post-surgical care, managing drains, wounds, trachs, and ostomies, and monitoring patient progress - Delegates tasks to support staff and collaborates with physicians during examinations and minor procedures - No OR experience accepted for this position - A 50-mile radius rule prohibits local candidates living within 50 miles of the facility - First-time travelers will not be considered - Requires the ability to respond to the cultural and language needs of patients and families Requirements - Active OK or compact RN license required - Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required - Minimum one year of acute care surgical floor RN experience - Travel nursing experience required - Stepdown/PCU and Level 1 facility experience required - Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred - Good verbal and written communication skills, and ability to manage care for a diverse patient population - Basic computer skills necessary Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-665220.
