Job Description:
Position Information The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System
(OCVAHCS) is actively recruiting a board-certified full-time
permanent hospital employed Gynecology Surgeon to join our Surgery
department. The Gynecology Surgeon is accountable to the Chief of
Surgery. The vascular surgery physician participates in inpatient
and outpatient care related care and consultation at the OKC VA.
The candidate will serve as a Gynecology specialist in the Oklahoma
City Veterans Administration Health Care System and provide
consultation in both the out-patient clinics and in the in-patient
wards. The candidate will educate patients and their families on
treatment options and preventative measures and collaborate with
healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care. Selectee
will participate fully in the duties of the section of GYN Surgery
and participate in the call schedule. Selectee is expected to
participate in clinical and/or basic science research projects.
Additional duties include; Adhere to Medical Staff bylaws and I
CARE values to maintain professional competency, courtesy, and
flexibility to provide compassionate patient care for the promotion
of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and care at
the end of life. Participate in program planning, objectives,
policies, and standards essential to performance of all aspects of
Vascular Surgery within approved credentials. Document all clinical
encounter consistent within established VA guidelines for Inpatient
and Outpatient Clinic consultation and follow-up, admission History
and Physicals, preoperative evaluations, surgery posting notes,
orders, operative notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Develop and provide medical education/counseling for patients and
families with a focus on delivery of evidence based, outcomes
focused, veteran centric care. Demonstrate effective communication
with colleagues and leadership thru participation in staff
meetings, hospital committees, and peer review process. Maintain VA
training requirements, timely completion of documentation and
upkeep of credentials required for privileging. Adhere to employee
health requirements, participate in Clinical Pertinence Review,
(routine medical record reviews), adhere to CPRS documentation
rules and to clinic procedures for patient scheduling & access.
Clinical Judgment: To ensure practice-based learning and
improvement, practitioners are expected to be able to use
scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and
improve patient care. Additional Requirement: Board certified in
Surgical Gynecology. The OCVAMC is located in Oklahoma City, OK and
is the “Flagship” for the Oklahoma VA Health Care System (OCVAHCS)
- a Joint Commission accredited, referral level 1b (medium
complexity) facility. The surgery department serves patients across
the spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care for more than 70,000
veterans in an area that includes 48 counties in Oklahoma and 2
counties in North Central Texas. Join a department that is

Schedule Full-time, Monday-Friday 08:00-4:30 U.S. Citizens receive
preference – non-U.S. Citizens may be considered. Current, full,
and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the
U.S. Board Certified in Vascular Surgery preferred, but Board
Eligibility may also be considered. The starting pay is $315,000-
$400,000 per year. A recruitment incentive will be offered, and
there is the potential for an annual performance bonus of up to
$15,000. Retirement: Federal Retirement Plan through the Federal
Employees Retirement System (FERS) - A three-tiered retirement plan
composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic
benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a
401K-type plan, with up to 5% government matching contributions

Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Recruitment/Relocation Incentives available. Paid Time Off: 50-55
days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of
sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day

into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from
any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year
reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
