Job Description:
The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (OCVAHCS) is actively
recruiting a board certified, board eligible full-time permanent
hospital employed Allergy and Immunology physician to join ou r
Section of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy. The Allergy and
Immunology Physician is accountable to the Chief of Rheumatology,
Immunology and Allergy service. We are recruiting a highly
qualified and equally motivated allergist, who is fellowship
trained in Allergy and Immunology. The Allergist participates in
patient care and addresses medical problems in the outpatient and
occasional inpatient setting. The physician will practice within
scope of privileges, physically attending outpatient clinics,
arriving on time, performs allergy testing and interpretation, and
document patient history and physical examination. The allergy
physician will order, interpret, and follow-up on a variety of
diagnostic and therapeutic tests/studies. Management of allergies
are expected to incorporate patient requests and needs. The
physician will attend required staff meetings, communicate up and
down the chain of command, and help prepare heads-up and issue
briefs related to adverse patient outcomes. Clinical Management
including indirect patient care: open encounter and open consult
maintenance, CPRS documentation requirements, monitoring of clinic
management. Maintains involvement in matters concerning clinic
productivity, relevant performance measures, Quality and Patient
Safety oversight, as well as process improvements (system
redesigns). Patient Care: Practitioners are expected to provide
patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for
the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of
disease, and care at the end of life. Medical/Clinical Knowledge:
Practitioners are expected to demonstrate knowledge of established
and evolving biomedical, clinical, and social sciences, and the
application of their knowledge to patient care and the education of
others. Clinical Judgment: To ensure practice-based learning and
improvement, practitioners are expected to be able to use
scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and
improve patient care. Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
Practitioners are expected to demonstrate interpersonal and
communication skills that enable them to establish and maintain
professional relationships with patients, families, and other
members of the health care team. Professionalism: Practitioners are
expected to demonstrate behaviors that reflect a commitment to
continuous professional development, ethical practice, and
understanding and sensitivity to diversity, and a responsible
attitude toward their patients, their profession. Systems-Based
Practice: Practitioners are expected to demonstrate both an
understanding of the contexts and systems in which health care is
provided, and the ability to apply this knowledge to improve
optimizing health care. If the incumbent is involved in research,
they will show an ability to identify and define significant
Research and Development problems, to plan and execute a precise
research program, and to generate effective reports and results
worthy of publication. The OCVAMC is located in Oklahoma City, OK
and is the Flagship for the Oklahoma VA Health Care System
(OCVAHCS) - a Joint Commission accredited, referral level 1b
(medium complexity) facility. The staff serves patients across the
spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care for more than 70,000
veterans in an area that includes 48 counties in Oklahoma and 2
counties in North Central Texas. Join a department that is

Schedule Full-time, Monday-Friday 08:00-4:30 U.S. Citizens receive
preference, non-U.S. Citizens may be considered. Current, full, and
unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S. Board
Certified in Allergy preferred, but Board Eligibility may also be
considered. Additional board certification in Internal Medicine is
preferred. The starting pay is $260,000 - $300,000 per year. A
recruitment incentive will be offered, and there is the potential
for an annual performance bonus of up to $15,000. Retirement:
Federal Retirement Plan through the Federal Employees Retirement
System (FERS) - A three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1)
Social Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic benefits (pension);
and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan, with up
to 5% government matching contributions Eligible for Education Debt
Repayment Program. (EDRP) Malpractice: Free liability protection
with tail coverage provided Recruitment/Relocation Incentives
available. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26
days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal
holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or
territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be
