Ask your recruiter about our competitive total rewards package including a $10,000 sign-on bonus!Location: University of Oklahoma Medical Center 7WShift Available: Full Time (36 hours/week) 645a-645p In our Medicine Specialty Unit, you have the opportunity to gain a higher level of nursing in the same unit with the same team and same leadership by working with both Step Down and Medical beds. The Medicine Specialty Unit is a part of the largest service line within the hospital system. This unit is looking for motivated, compassionate, and disciplined nurses who crave a stimulating, learning experience, and work well with a team. The Medicine Specialty unit works with complex and varied patients with multifaceted disease processes. The Collaborative Care Model is an innovative new strategy dedicated to making sure that the Post Trauma unit has the right resources at the right place for our patients in a way that can be easily modified it to the patient's unique needs. In this model, a collaborative team made up of a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Care Team Associate will be assigned to a certain number of patients. In addition to those primary roles, there will also be additional support staff of a direct care pharmacist, a phlebotomist, and an EVS (Environmental Services) attendant. This model puts all the right people in all the right places to give the best care we can to our patients. One (1) year of RN experience is preferred for this position. If you have less than one (1) year of RN experience, please search for positions titled "RN Resident" to start the application process.General Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.

  • Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
  • Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician order on assigned patients.
  • Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
  • Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary.
  • Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
  • Delivers patient care competently.
  • Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge.
  • Informs patient and family of hospital procedures.
  • Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Delegates tasks to support staff. General Responsibilities:
    • Performs other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program preferred.Experience: N/ALicense(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. ACLS (American Heart Association) required within 1 year if working step down.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills.
