Job Description:
*DEPARTMENT: * Department of Pediatric Medicine/Pediatric
Service*JOB TITLE: * Pediatrician*GENERAL DEFINITION: * This
position is located within the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center
(CNMC) Pediatric Clinic. The purpose of this position is to perform
specialty medicine dealing with the physical, emotional and social
health of children from birth to young adulthood. The position may
require scheduled duty on days, evenings, nights, weekends,
holidays and call backs.*SUPERVISION RECEIVED: * Pediatrician is
under the direct supervision of the Chickasaw Nation Division of
Health (CNDH) Chief of Pediatric Medicine.*SUPERVISION EXERCISED: *
None*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: ** Adheres to the CNDH Medical Staff
Bylaws and Policies and Procedures.* Maintains a competent,
considerate and objective professional relationship with patients
to minimize complaints, dissatisfaction or adverse impact regarding
services.* Serves on hospital committees and performance
improvement teams as assigned by the Chief of Service or Chief of
Staff.* Participates in continuing medical education as required by
the Oklahoma Board of Licensure.* Treats all patients with respect
and maintains a cooperative attitude with other employees to
facilitate quality patient care.* Responsible for continuity of
care of pediatric service and provides timely requests for schedule
changes, vacation, sick leave and continuing medical education
leave to the Chief of Service.* Maintains sensitivity to Native
American culture.* Serves as "on-call" for pediatric patients day
and/or night.* Acts as a consultant to other physicians in the
hospital, Fast Track Clinic, outpatient clinic and emergency
medicine department.* Provides comprehensive pediatric care in the
Pediatric Clinic including the Emergency Medicine Department.*
Provides comprehensive inpatient pediatric care on medical/surgical
unit, attendance in the newborn nursery and attendance at
C-sections as deemed appropriate by the Pediatric Service.*
Performs other duties as assigned.*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
**Education: ** Have successfully completed a post graduate
training program in Pediatrics accredited by the ACGME, AOA or have
comparable experience and training.*Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities: * - Must possess and/or be willing to develop and
enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform
the essential job functions.*Training and Experience: ** Be able to
document that he/she has been working in a Pediatric setting during
the last 12 months. Completion of new residency training will
satisfy this requirement.*Physical Demands: * - Position may
require long periods of sitting, standing, reaching, lifting and
bending to perform procedures.*Work Environment: * - Work may
require the use of surgical mask, gloves and/or eyeglasses. There
may be danger of exposure to radiation, communicable diseases,
blood-borne pathogens, and/or airborne
debris.*Licenses/Certificates/Other: ** Hold current unrestricted
license to practice medicine, eligible for an Oklahoma license, and
current unrestricted DEA number.* Must hold current certification
in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).* Preferred: Current
board certification or active participation in the examination
process leading to certification in Pediatrics accredited by ACGME
