Registered Nurse (Nurse Educator) - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Duties

The registered nurse provides care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems.
Major duties include, but are not limited to:


  • - Demonstrating clinical competencies in such areas as age-specific care, cultural assessment, and health education.
  • - Demonstrating an ability to begin functioning autonomously, as well as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • - Providing organized and safe patient care. Focuses on individual assignment to address concerns and issues occurring with assignments
  • - Ability to begin to manage multiple competing priorities safely
  • - Assessing care provided and seeks to improve:

    • Ability to provide training/education in fundamental and technical skills
    • Ability to contribute to the development of clinical education and training


    • - Demonstrating accurate and timely documentation of patient care according to the standards of the work area

      • Demonstrating effective verbal and written communication skills


      • - Ability to demonstrate understanding of and compliance with patient safety guidelines, accrediting body guidelines, VHA Directives, and Facility Center Memorandums that pertain to the work area
      • - Ability to demonstrate understanding of facility performance metrics that can be influenced by care provided
      • - Ability to demonstrate active participation in program level quality improvement processes and initiatives
      • - Ability to demonstrate use of metrics to show improvement in delivery of care
      • - Ability to demonstrate active participation in customer service improvement processes and initiatives
      • - Ability to demonstrate self-direction in:

        • Maintaining current (not expired) licensure, certifications (BLS/ACLS), competencies, and mandatory trainings
        • Developing ability to demonstrate effective use of facility processes for Standard Operating Procedures, Center Memorandums, Protocols, Guidelines, Patient Education, etc. seeking guidance from preceptor, more experienced RNs, or Nursing Leadership as needed


        • - Attending staff meetings and program specific education
        • - Following and including the appropriate Nursing chain of command structure
        • - Collaborate with the leadership team to conduct an annual learning needs assessment as applicable. The plan will include, but is not limited to, nursing competency identification for clinical area(s) or programmatic requirements.

          • Consistently demonstrates effective communication skills and professional behaviors that promote cooperation and teamwork with internal and external customers, team members, and supervisors
