Job Description:

Assists the Medical Director in providing psychiatric/mental health services to the consumers of Red Rock BHS. Evaluates, diagnoses and develops treatment plans and follow up evaluations. Prescribes and monitors medication side effects and participates in the treatment process.

Serves as the Primary Care Physician (PCP)/Health Team Primary Care Consultant. Provides primary healthcare services to Red Rock consumers in the clinic and in outpatient programs as assigned. Services provided include conducting initial consumer histories and physical assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and diagnosing and treating common acute and chronic diseases with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention. The PCP collaborates as a part of a multidisciplinary team in making appropriate referrals to facilitate the transition within and between care settings.
Essential Functions
Consults with the psychiatrist and primary clinician on a regular basis to effectively address physical and mental health needs of consumers
Provides education to consumers experiencing psychiatric illnesses
Documents treatment and medications prescribed and/or administered per Agency standards
Provides psychiatric emergency intervention and management for consumers
Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings to coordinate care for clients
Refers consumers to additional resources as appropriate
Maintains core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment
Assists in the development and implementation of programmatic goals and objectives
As the PCP Consultant for the Health Team:
Performs clinical assessment, treatment, and management of consumer health conditions
Assist in communicating with the individual's PCP regarding results of case consultations
Develops collaborative relationships with treating PCP's hospitals and Psychiatrists, as well as other healthcare professionals and facilities serving our consumers
Review individual clinical records when there is some question whether immediate intervention is necessary to avoid imminent harm
Consult with Health Home Director in preparing a curriculum design to provide the agency staff with a working understanding of the chronic diseases affecting our consumers
Supports and assists with the facilitation of Care Plans for consumers within the Red Rock Health Team
Performs other duties as assigned
Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Oklahoma Medical Board
One year relevant experience
Working knowledge of psychiatric conditions, medications and treatments
Three years relevant experience preferred
Clinical supervisory experience preferred
