Job Description:

Pay Rate

$1,976 weekly

Shifts: 8 Hours

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the RN provides physical assessments of residents, implements resident's treatment plan, evaluates response to treatment, provides complete documentation, performs physical restraint assessments, administers medications as prescribed & provides health care education for residents & families.
The RN supervises the daily duties of the Mental Health Techs & LPN staff, & assures that all residents are maintained in a safe environment.
Performs duties in accordance with the ANA STANDARDS of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, & facility mission, values, policies, & behavioral Standards.

Qualifications / Specifications Experience:
Prior clinical experience & recent psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.
Geriatric experience preferred for Geriatric psych unit.

Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Licensure/Certification:
Licensure & registration by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing as a registered nurse required. CPR certification within 90 days of employment.

Working Knowledge:
Good communication skills.
Ability to present information & ideas essential to nursing duties & must maintain effective working relationships interdepartmentally, interdepartmentally, & with the Medical Staff.

Essential Technical/Motor Skills:
Computer software & keyboard proficiency, ability to operate various types of office equipment such as copier, scanner, & fax machines, phone systems, etc.
Must be able to bend, lift, & reach office supplies & files.

Interpersonal Skills:
Must be able to communicate successfully, both orally & written, to a variety of internal & external customers, while maintaining a professional & pleasant demeanor.

Essential Cognitive Abilities:
Must be able to do business math calculations & to problem solve independently on office operation matters.
Must have strong organizational skills.
Must have the ability to focus & perform effectively under stress & with multiple priorities.
Must be able to make sound, independent decisions pertaining to job responsibilities.

Essential Sensory Requirements:
Must be able to respond to patient/customer needs by interpreting facial expressions & verbal communications.

Essential Physical Requirements:
Physical agility to manage patients.
Ability to push, pull & lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, st&ing, walking, bending & stooping.

Exposure to Hazards:
Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior.
Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids & other hazardous waste. General healthcare environment.

Other:
Underst&s & adheres to the mission, value statement, & behavioral Standards of the facility. Operates within the concept of patient-focused care.
Participates as an effective team member.
Maintains knowledge of & adheres to facility policies & procedures, including dress code, grooming, & personal hygiene, as well as attendance.

Certification/Licenses:
CPI preferred per facility.
Highly desired CPR certification.
Highly desired Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Required Handle with Care per facility.
Highly desired Licensure & registration by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing as a registered nurse.
Required MAB preferred per facility.
Highly desired Prior clinical experience & recent psychiatric nursing experience.
