JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Procurement US & Canada is a part of the Global
Operation (GO) department which is responsible for taking ideas
into implementation across all brands, disciplines, and continents,
and reports to the Vice President, Procurement. As a member of the
global procurement team, the Director of Procurement provides
functional expertise and consultative support to regional and
property teams for Managed Full Service and Select Service
properties in the U.S. & Canada. This position is responsible for
the development, deployment, maintenance, and measurement of the
processes and tools to successfully drive procurement excellence
while coordinating initiatives among hotels, suppliers, regional,
continent, and global leaders. This includes the creation and
deployment of a standardized support model, establishment of
cluster procurement organization, supplier management, improvement
and negotiation and roll out of contracts as needed. The Director
is the Headquarters and Market support resource for topics related
to all market/regional procurement matters.
This role acts as a business partner to Area General Managers, Area
Vice Presidents, Area Directors of Operations, Property Leadership
(GMs, Dept. Leaders) and other Continent team members and will be
focused on monitoring procurement performance and implementing
improvements as needed. The position is responsible for leading
significant change and transition activities related to
procurement.
The Director contributes subject matter expertise to ongoing
business process. This position must be adept at tapping diverse
sources of information, identifying appropriate solutions,
anticipating challenges, and devising and executing approaches to
deliver against current and future priorities. Resource will be
located on the U.S. mainland, preferable in or near one/multiple
major metro markets.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required
4-year bachelor's degree in business administration, hotel
management, finance, or related field.
8+ years of relevant operations/procurement experience.
Strong data and analytics capability including use of MS excel,
Power BI and other analytical tools/software.
Working operational knowledge of multiple disciplines, including
Food & Beverage, Event Management, Spa, Retail, Golf, Rooms &
Related services).
Awareness of the principles, procedures, and techniques of
accounting, and of financial records and transactions including,
but not limited to, generally accepted accounting principles.
Possess strong oral and written communication skills, excellent
interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively with senior
level leadership, including General Managers, Executive Committee
Members, and Key Stakeholders.
In or near one or multiple major metro markets. Major airport hub
access required.
Ability to travel approximately75% of the time within U.S. &
Canada
Preferred
Experience as a hotel operations or procurement leader strongly
preferred.
Global mindset; able to work with diverse stakeholders
enterprise-wide with focus on developing and integrating best
practices across all brands & businesses.
Experience in purchasing, receiving, inventory and contract
negotiation. Prior experience working with group purchasing
organizations in hospitality and food service a plus.
Ability to communicate important discipline information effectively
with all levels of the organization, from hotel to leadership
Knowledge of best-in-class procurement practices, operating
procedures, controls, and governance.
Ability to leverage resources in the accomplishment of
objectives.
Exceptional organizational skills. Effective in prioritizing work
and following through on commitments. Project management skills
Proven interpersonal, problem resolution skills, coupled with the

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Operating model
Define engagement / operating model for market support and adjust
as necessary over time.
Provide procurement expertise and leadership, maintain strong
relationships with regional teams, property teams and cluster
procurement leaders.
Create an environment that focuses on process, Key Performance
Index (KPIs), and other measurements of productivity, efficiency,
accuracy, and service. Stays informed of latest developments, best
practices, and trends in procurement and eProcurement; fosters a
culture of continuous improvement.
Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with
corporate, continent, and property procurement and finance teams to
understand the business and ensure timely exchange of information.
Provide ongoing advice and guidance concerning issues related to
procurement.
Responsible for fostering relationships with Area leaders, Global
Procurement and Finance leaders, Property leadership and other key
stakeholders
Shares best practices and knowledge across hotels. Champion
excellence in business ethics and integrity, social responsibility,
cross-cultural effectiveness, and associate engagement.
Cluster, Councils and cooperation
Where appropriate, develop business cases for cluster organization
and obtain alignment from market operations leaders on
implementation.
Create business cases which include return on investment
projections
Provide support to cluster leaders, providing training,
development, and knowledge transfer to deliver consistency in
operating model and compliance to procurement strategy and finance
policies and procedures.
Market support and supplier improvement
Schedule, prioritize and conduct regular in market procurement
reviews with suppliers, hotel leaders and above property
leaders.
Develop process to share and communicate effectively best practices
within and between regions.
Conducts supplier business reviews and manages supplier improvement
where necessary.
Regularly walk hotel operations to assess supplier performance,
hotel execution, and purchasing / inventory system performance,
particularly back of house from dock to storeroom to outlet / guest
rooms. Document and share best practices and take steps to improve
performance where necessary.
Contracting
Regularly assess hotel expenditures and complete
negotiations/contracts for city-wide, multi-city or national
agreements as needed.
Drive cost savings and proactively manage inflationary pressure by
switching suppliers and commodities. Actively improve compliance
and communicate opportunities with hotels and market leaders.
Negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery
and compliance with Marriott's procurement strategy, finance
policy, and cost control measures
Determines the appropriate contract structure to extract maximum
value including Cost Plus, Discount off of list, and deviated
pricing strategies.
Performs other duties as business needs.

$107,850.00 to $239,250.00 annually.
Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is
$107,850.00 to $217,498.00 annually.
New York City & Westchester County, NY Applicants Only: The salary
range for this position is $130,500.00 to $239,250.00 annually.
Washington Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is
$107,850.00 to $239,250.00 annually. In addition to the annual
salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus
and restricted stock units/stock grants. Employees will accrue
0.4616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive
minimum of 7 holidays annually.
