Injection Mold Toolmaker / Precision Machinist Location: Oklahoma City, OK Pay: $35/hour (flexible based on experience) Schedule: Monday–Thursday | 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM Work Environment: 100% Onsite About ACO Plastics ACO Plastics is a growth-oriented manufacturer operating as two businesses in one: We design and manufacture our own food service products We partner with customers to develop plastic products from concept to production This role sits on the tooling side of the business — not the production floor. You will be building the molds that drive everything we produce. The Role We are hiring a hands-on Toolmaker / Precision Machinist to build and maintain injection molds in-house. This is not a machine operator role. We are specifically looking for someone who can machine and build tooling from the ground up, not someone whose background is primarily running injection molding machines. You will work in a toolroom environment focused on precision machining, mold construction, and problem-solving. Key Responsibilities Build, repair, and modify injection molds for plastic part production Machine precision components using: Manual mills and lathes CNC mills (Mazak or similar) Grinders and EDM Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and mold layouts Troubleshoot tooling issues and improve mold performance Collaborate with engineering on design improvements and manufacturability Support mold sampling, validation, and production readiness Maintain tooling documentation and revisions Compensation & Benefits $35/hour (negotiable based on experience) 50% employer-paid medical insurance 60% employer-paid dental insurance IRA with 3% company match 8 paid holidays per year 40 hours of vacation to start (increases 10 hours per year up to 120 hours) Company events and team activities Tool replacement support / advances Important Distinction This is not a production or injection molding machine operator role. This position is focused on building and maintaining molds, not running presses. Ideal Candidate Toolmaker capable of independently building molds from start to finish or Highly skilled machinist capable of transitioning into mold building Why This Role Work in a toolroom environment focused on craftsmanship, not repetitive production High level of autonomy and ownership Direct impact on product quality and development Stable team with long employee tenure Requirements Required Qualifications Strong manual machining skillset (mills, lathes, grinders) Experience building or repairing tooling, molds, or precision components Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and tolerances Solid understanding of machining practices, materials, and precision work Ability to work independently without full-time training Preferred Toolmaking Experience Injection mold toolmaking experience (5 years preferred) Understanding of mold construction, gating, cooling, and tolerances Experience troubleshooting mold performance issues CAD & Technical Skills CAD/CAM experience is expected for experienced toolmakers Candidates with strong machining backgrounds but limited CAD may still be considered Ability to learn and adapt to design tools over time Salary Description $35/hr (negotiable based on experience)
