The Opportunity:
Enel North America intends to build one of the largest solar
photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing facilities in the US, expected to
initially produce at least 3 GW and scale up to 6 GW of
high-performance bifacial PV modules and cells annually. The
proposed facility will be among the first in the United States to
produce PV cells, the key building blocks that make up solar
panels. The facility is expected to create up to 1,500 new clean
energy jobs, while also supporting the creation of a domestic solar
PV supply chain to accelerate the growth of US generated energy and
add to the country's domestic solar cell and panel manufacturing
capacity. this role will be a hybrid opportunity. Candidates will
work part time at home, and part time in an Enel office. Currently,
we will review applicants living in or willing to relocate to
Oklahoma City, OK; Lenexa, Kansas; Houston, TX; and/or Andover, MA
areas. -
The Head of Execution of the 3Sun Gigafactory US is responsible for
directing and guiding project decisions throughout development,
design, and construction, startup and ramp up of operations of the
3Sun Gigafactory in the US, in accordance with project strategic
goals and standards: time, cost and expected output, in compliance
with safety, environment, sustainability and quality.
The position will manage and develop a team of SMEs, that include
Project Managers, Engineers, and Project Controllers, to ensure
effective coordination and collaboration of various contractor and
service providers to ensuring timely completion of the solar module
manufacturing facilities, resolution of punch-list items and
successful handover to the operations function. The role will
direct and contribute to project strategic level decisions related
to project progress, project delivery and collaboration
methodology, resource allocation, tax equity funding, risk
management, and cross-functional collaboration.
What You'll Do at Enel:
Responsibilities, include, but not limited to:
- Represent the 3Sun Gigafactory facility project in the capacity
of being the Requesting Unit towards Procurement, Legal and other
functions by directing and contributing to project delivery
methods. Ensuring the right collaboration and incentive mechanisms
are in place for the expected execution of the permitting, design,
construction, start up and ramp up of the solar module
manufacturing facility.
- Define in conjunction with Procurement, the Innovation
Technical Office and necessary team members the strategy for main
equipment purchasing including: cell and module manufacturing
lines, manufacturing execution system and conveying
automation.
- Report to the Head of 3Sun Gigafactory USA, other Company
Executives and Project Sponsors about project strategic goals and
performance.
- Direct and guide a team of SMEs, contractors, and relevant
functions of the project sponsor's organization in project
decisions throughout development, design, and construction of the
3Sun Gigafactory in the US, in accordance with project strategic
goals and standards: time, cost and expected output, in compliance
with safety, environment, sustainability and quality.
- Direct resources assigned to the 3Sun Gigafactory project,
conduct risk analysis and monitor project schedule and costs, as
well as identify any necessary corrective actions with the support
of the project planning, cost control and risk management
resources.
- Ensuring the erection and site work activities with full
accountability over safety, environment, sustainability, quality,
time, and cost targets managing suppliers and contractors, in
collaboration with Procurement, Legal and necessary units of the
project sponsor, managing logistics, contractors and contracts
execution.
- Ensure completion of facilities and infrastructure, in
accordance with the needs of the Operations Function, guaranteeing
the timely deployment of the operations of the facility, startup,
commissioning and ramp up, including management systems, warehouse
and inventory management, accounting and IT systems and other
relevant services and functions.
- This position will manage 10-15 direct reports and is
responsible for performance management. The role will also manage
Project Sponsor's project team and equivalent in form of external
services such as Owners Engineer (-$15MM).
Who You Are:
- Master's degree in civil, electrical, process, chemical
engineering or equivalent or equivalent demonstrated
experience.
- CCM (Certified Construction Manager) or PMP (Project Management
Professional) or Prince2 (Projects in Controlled Environment)
Practitioner
- 15+ years of Engineering and Construction experience in large
infrastructure projects, large capital investment projects, large
vertical construction project or construction of advanced
manufacturing facilities.
- 8+ years of experience in project management of large capital
intensive multi contract projects, including management of project
teams.
- 5+ years of experience in managing the implementation of
advanced manufacturing facilities - experience in EV, solar
modules, automotive or semiconductor facilities is
preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in managing direct reports, including
development and performance management.
- Proven experience of collaborative contracting methods such as
Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) or Framework Alliance
Contracts.
- Project implementation related knowledge about valuation,
financing, equity deals or tax equity related items.
- Knowledge of the construction industry, general contractors,
digital design-cost-schedule delivery methodology (BIM),
construction means and methods and quality assurance and quality
management.
- Strong client-facing and internal and external communication
skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility to manage deadline pressure,
ambiguity, and change.
- Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple
tasks/projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work within a global framework and a matrix
organization, multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
- Full professional fluency in English is required - Italian will
be considered a plus.
- Up to 25% of domestic travel and 5% of international
travel.
- A valid driver's license operable in all 50 states and Canada
and a clean driving record. A clean driving records means:
- In the last 3 years, no driving-related suspension, revocation
or cancellation, no disqualifying offenses, no more than 2 moving
violations and no reckless driving incidents.
- In the last 5 years, no major driving offenses including
DUI/DWI, refusal to test, leaving the scene, driving a commercial
vehicle without a CDL, or at-fault fatal accident.
