Job Description:
The University of Oklahoma and OU Health seek an accomplished
researcher and leader to serve as Director of the Harold Hamm
Diabetes Center. This role offers a unique opportunity to guide a
well-resourced and nationally visible center committed to advancing
discoveries, improving access to high-quality diabetes care, and
accelerating progress toward prevention, treatment, and ultimately
cure. The Director will also hold the University title of Vice
Provost for Diabetes Programs, underscoring the institution’s
commitment to integrating diabetes science and care across the
academic health campus. The Harold Hamm Diabetes Center was founded
through one of the largest philanthropic investments in diabetes
research in the United States and benefits from significant
internal research funding, endowed positions, shared facilities,
and state-of-the-art laboratories. Its global presence is reflected
in the Harold Hamm International Prize for Biomedical Research in
Diabetes, the largest award in the field, and its statewide impact
is strengthened through longstanding collaborations with Oklahoma’s
sovereign tribal nations. The Center is part of an academic health
campus that is making significant investments in research growth
and interdisciplinary collaboration. The University has launched
Project 200 to recruit 200 research-intensive faculty across the
system, including 150 on the Health Campus, creating an exceptional
environment for expansion in diabetes and metabolic disease
research. Reporting to University leadership, the next Director
will advance a unified vision for diabetes research and clinical
innovation, foster collaboration across adult and pediatric
programs, and serve as a visible ambassador for the Center’s
mission. Candidates should hold an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD, qualify for
appointment at the associate or full professor level, and
demonstrate a nationally recognized record of scientific
achievement, sustained external funding, and leadership in
