JOB PURPOSE:The Clinical Informatics role promotes the understanding, integration, and application of information technology in healthcare settings, ensuring adequate and qualified support of clinician objectives and industry best practices.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:Responsible for strategic and operational leadership in the development, deployment, re-engineering and integration of clinical information systems (CIS) to support clinicians and patient service.Improve the clinical quality, safety, and operational integrity of clinical information systems.Ensures the development of test areas, system test data, and testing methods prior to implementation of new or revised systems and is accountable for post-implementation reviews.Demonstrates fiscal leadership and responsibility in utilizing resources.Work collaboratively with Administration and leaders at each location to establish short and long-term goals, training, and implementation plans for the nursing programs.Plans, prioritizes, summarizes, directs and supervises staff, users and vendors in clinical systems development and support functions with an emphasis on complete, accurate and secure systems.Responsible for implementing and managing information security directives as mandated by the HIPAA security rule and other regulatory laws and statues.Ensures the ongoing integration of information security with business strategies and requirements.Ensures that the access control, disaster recovery, and business continuity needs of the organization are properly addressed.Works with vendors outside consultants, and other third parties to ensure that information systems are adequately protected and meet HIPAA certification requirements.Works in conjunction with the Corporate Compliance Committees to contain, investigate and prevent computer security breaches.Additional duties as requested within scope of practice.BEHAVIORAL STANDARDSThe individual must support the mission, vision, and goals of Avem Health Partners and serve as a role model within the company.Exhibit positive customer service behavior in every day work interactions.Demonstrate a courteous and respectful attitude to internal workforce and external customers.Communicate accurately and appropriately.Handle difficult situations in a discreet and professional manner.Hold self-accountable for professional practice.Participate in performance improvement activities utilizing principles to support and improve patient care.Demonstrate knowledge of unit goals and is active in committees and projects to achieve these goals.Keep current with literature regarding changing practices, interventions and best practices in patient care.Assume responsibility for seeking out educational and professional opportunities for personal learning needs and growth as well as meeting mandatory education requirements.Act as a preceptor as requested.Demonstrate excellent work attendance and attend and actively participate in a variety of meetings and training sessions as required.Adhere to the Avem Health Partners Code of Conduct and Standards of Behavior. Complies with established policies and procedures and all health and safety requirements.EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors Degree in a related field, masters degree or clinical-related degree preferred.Five years systems leadership experience as a supervisor or manager in a hospital, medical center, or healthcare setting preferred.Strong understanding of clinical processes and workflows in a healthcare setting.Prior experience with technical support and information security management around the electronic medical record health system MediTech.Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to lead initiatives.Knowledge of clinical quality metrics, healthcare regulations, and standards.Demonstrated leadership ability and interpersonal effectiveness required to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines, e.g., physicians, administrative, external agencies and vendors.CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:Active license as RN, NP, PharmD or APRN.Valid drivers licensePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duties satisfactorily.
